Long Lasting Spray Tans: How Long Does a Spray Tan Last?

Keeping your skin on is the goal after a an airbrush spray tan.  Your glow is perfect, you love it. Now lets keep it.  Spray tans like sun tans will, the even the best spray tan solutions,  fade quickly if not handled with care.

AFTER YOUR SUNLESS TAN:

1) No sweating or water on the skin for the prescribed time by your technician, or you’ll risk streaking! Most airbrush spray tan suggest 24 hrs without a soap shower as the soap deactivates the tanning solution.

2)No harsh Soap! After the designated wait-time has passed, you can rinse your body with warm water and a Gentle Gel Soap (no level 2000, Dial, Dove).  Commercial bar soaps often have a pH of 8+ which strips the skin. The spray tanning fades as the skin naturally sloughs off the body.  Tanning Salons often sell products that are pH balanced to keep you looking good the longest.  (Hint, you brag about your tan, they get more business).

No scrubbing, loofas, harsh soaps, sugar scrubs, anything abrasive for the week of the tan.

3) No scrubbing; you did that the day before, so don’t exfoliate, and just pat dry with a towel instead of rubbing dry.

4) Swimming in pools and soaking in hot tubs with chlorine creates dry skin; therefore refrain from both if you’d like to keep your tan glowing for the 5-7 day period.

5) Regularly apply a tan-preserving lotion – most sunless tanning salons offer great hydrating after-care lotions. A small investment but a BIG pay off, trust us!
